On 24 July 2018, The Helping Hand held its 8th fund-raising charity golf event at the Orchid Country Club. Our event got underway with the registration and a buffet lunch of Chicken Rice. At 1 pm, the participants gathered at the buggy bay, raring to begin their game of golf.
It was a glorious day for golf with the brilliant sunshine and we thank God that the weather stayed that way until the end of the event. After the game, the golfers were treated to a sumptuous dinner at the Emerald Suite where we had the privilege of having Dr Lam Pin Min, Senior Minister of State for Health and Transport as our Guest-of-Honour.
During dinner, one of our staff, Mr Sivabalan s/o Jayakodi, shared his testimony about how God had to humble him before he realised his need for a Saviour. When Siva was last released from prison, he had to wait a few hours before being brought to The Helping Hand. Whilst waiting, he was stripped of his pride and it dawned upon him that he was truly a nobody. He did not know it then, but he now knows that it was part of God’s plan to make him understand that apart from God, he was truly nothing. Siva has since been with The Helping Hand for three years and he thanked God for keeping him drug-free and giving him meaning and purpose in life. All praise and Glory to God.
During the dinner, we also gave out our raffle draw prizes as well as the tournament prizes. We thank God for an enjoyable dinner where everyone had a good time of fellowship, food, and fun.
On behalf of The Helping Hand, we would like to thank God for the 116 golfers who came and supported us, the $83,500 that was raised and the sponsors who contributed in making this a successful event for us.
