Here at The Helping Hand,

our people make change possible.

As a halfway house, led by our board and management, our team of social workers and staff, complement our residents and helpers to deliver services. 

Part of what makes us unique is that residents have a chance to work with us on a longer term basis to sustain their change in a safe environment. Some residents eventually become helpers in moving, urban farming, or the bakery, giving them dignified work in a therapeutic environment.

Chairperson

May Loh

A lawyer by training, May serves on several charity boards and works closely with philanthropic organisations and social entrepreneurs in sustainability. Married with three children, she worships with her family at Adam Road Presbyterian Church.

Vice-Chairperson

Timothy Hia

Timothy is a lawyer in private practice. He is married with three children and attends Zion Bishan BP Church with his family.

Honorary Treasurer

Kwok Wai Keong

Wai Keong worked in real estate investment management prior to his retirement. He is married and worships at the International Baptist Church.

Lim Ai Ling

Ai Ling is a senior HR executive with over 30 years of regional strategic and operational leadership experience across Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Eugene Lam

Eugene is a HR Leader with a global technology company. He is a member of the SAFRA Management Committee and serves as a musician in the music ministry at New Creation Church.

Yvonne Chan

Yvonne is the CFO of SMU and worships at Grace AOG.  She served with several non profit organisations and is happily married with 2 adult daughters.

Michelle serves as the Deputy Chairperson & CEO of Mewah International Inc.  She is married with three children and worships at Barker Road Methodist Church.

Loke Wai Yin

Wai Yin worships at Barker Road Methodist Church. She is involved in various charitable organisations; she sits on the Audit Committee of Trinity Theological College and is a member of the Grant Committee of the Tote Board.

Patrick Ho

Patrick Ho has over 20 years of management experience in the financial services space across Singapore and Hong Kong. Having been a prison volunteer with Prison Fellowship of Singapore for many years, he is now taking his heart to respond to a full-time service call to lead at The Helping Hand.

Head of Chaplaincy

Richard Khalil

Formerly the Executive Director of THH, Richard now serves as Head of Chaplaincy, where his dedication and compassionate approach allow him to connect deeply with ex-offenders. He continues to guide and inspire residents through their own journeys of recovery and reintegration, offering encouragement and support as they work toward lasting change in their lives.

Janyn Sen

Janyn Sen brings over 11 years of experience in the social sector, supporting more than 70 charities and social enterprises across finance, human resources, process improvement, digitalization, and business operations. At The Helping Hand (THH), she is part of the Corporate Services team, contributing to HR management, engagement & outreach, and program development to support both staff and residents.

Benjamin Ong

Ben spent 15 years in the aerospace engineering sector in Singapore before taking a leap of faith in 2017 to pursue counselling and social work in Sydney where he spent 8 years working in the mental health, drug & alcohol rehabilitation, disability service and homelessness service sectors.

Yeo Kee Siang

Kee Siang brings over 28 years of experience from the Singapore Prison Service, where he served in various operational and support roles. At The Helping Hand, he hopes to contribute his experience towards strengthening operations and creating a safe, structured and supportive environment where residents can focus on their recovery and rebuild their lives.

Hannah Tan

Hannah's passion for helping the less privileged has been the driving force behind her professional journey. After working in the financial industry, she chose to pursue work that creates meaningful social change. Since then, she has worked with a range of local and international NGOs. Hannah is committed to connecting people and resources to causes that make a lasting difference.
