I look at the items all around the home. The school term had just ended and I had 3 weeks to move.
I didn’t know where to start.

And that might be you today. With work taking up so much time, you might struggle to find enough time to move all your things. What’s worse, you don’t know where to get everything you need – from the cardboard boxes, to everything else.
So let’s start with the items you’d need.
Learn the Marie Kondo way, if it doesn’t bring you joy, just chuck it
Yes, you have too much things. And no matter how you rationalize, you will have to dump it.
I remember the first time I moved and how hard it was to just dump things I loved. But eventually, what helped me was the reframe.
I wasn’t dumping. I was just finding them a new home.
If you’d like you can recycle clothes at the textile recycling bins around your estate. Or if you want, you can also donate to charity portals like Pass It On (which would list your items to be passed on to a needy family). Or you can go to Salvation Army.
Use your Town Council to do bulky item disposals
Of course, you won’t be able to clear everything. Which is why you’d have to use the Town Council to help with your item disposal.
Bear in mind, they only do 3 items though. Else, they’d be too swamped to actually do anything else.
Find professionals to dispose your items
Movers like us can help you to dispose of your items. We bring the entire truckload of items to the designated disposal places in Singapore.
It brings you immediate peace of mind.

Get strong cardboard boxes to pack and categorize your items – we sell them at $3 per piece
You’re going to need a place to put your items, and what better place than to use cardboard boxes? But you also don’t want ones that are flimsy and easy to break. You want sturdy ones. Trust us.
We’ve been sourcing for the best cardboard suppliers for decades, and we now know who to get. We’d sell them to you for $3 per box, and you can be guaranteed they would stand the test of the kilograms of weight your items would weigh.
Another pro-tip I would share:
Categorise your items.
These are my favorite categories:
- Kitchen supplies (table cloths, pots, pans, plates, forks, utensils).
- Clothes
- Toiletries (soaps, shampoos, toothbrushes etc.)
Label your boxes
If you’ve moved more than once, you’d quickly realise that you’d need to know what each box entails.

This way, you don’t have to pull everything out, and you can even put the appropriate box in the right place, so you don’t have to move it more than once.

Engage expert movers who can give you peace of mind
Many people think that they can just get someone from Lalamove to do their move. Sure, that’s if you have a few items. But even the Lalamove guy can’t dismantle your items, clingwrap it, and make sure that it’s fit to go.

That requires a professional.

That’s right. You don’t want to be left stranded on the day of your big move, not knowing where your movers are, and wondering if they are ever going to come.
Sound like a nightmare? We’ve seen that happen. Customers that just see their movers not appear on the day, or cancel on the morning of the move, and resort to coming to us.
That’s why we’re here to help.
Having worked in this industry for 20 odd years, we’ve seen nearly every type of move. From those in condos, to landed properties, to your typical HDB flats, we know what to expect, and we know how to move things efficiently.

Rain or shine, we will be there to help you.
